Twisting Postures for Health and Happiness

Twisting poses are a great way to detoxify, cleanse and purify body and mind. They help the detoxification of the body by massaging the internal organs, squeezing stagnant blood and toxins from the organs and digestive system. As the twist is released, fresh oxygenated blood flows back to the organs, stimulating digestion and proper organ function. Twists are also a great way to increase the spines flexibility, and just plain and simply feel good! The calming effect on the nervous system and mind after twisting, allows negative emotions and thoughts to be released easily.

This workshop will focus on the Sivananada sequence adapted to add twisting postures. Aiding in flexibility, detoxification, emotional and mental relief, twists are a great way to increase over all wellbeing of body, mind and soul. Open to all levels of practitioners, this class is a compliment to the Positive Thinking workshop, both taught by Swami Paramananda. You won’t want to miss this opportunity to practice, learn and laugh with him. 

Swami Paramananda

Swami Paramananda is the manager of the Sivananda Yoga Ranch, in upstate New York.  He has been dedicated to the practices of Yoga for over a decade.  At a young age, Swamiji dedicated his life to the study and teaching of hatha yoga, philosophy and thought power.

Through his inspiring, intense devotion to Yoga and dissemination of its teachings, and with his joyful sense of humor, Swamiji effortlessly weaves classical yoga teachings into today's life style.

Swamiji is the main Hatha Yoga teacher for several Teacher Training courses a year in New York, Nassau and India. He has also taught the main philosophy lectures and Bhagavad Gita classes.
