For people of all ages who are new to yoga or complete beginners, and want to start a regular practice, this course is the perfect way to ease into yoga. You will learn about the health benefits of yoga asana (postures) and pranayama (breathing exercises) and the positive effect on body, mind and emotions. Held in small groups for more individual attention, we will slowly and systematically teach the basics of Yoga, emphasizing the 5 points of perfect health: proper exercise, proper breathing, proper relaxation, proper diet, meditation and positive thinking. Building a foundation for a solid practice, the added benefit is a short meditation at the end of each session.
WIrh over 30 years' experience in teaching yoga to beginners, the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center has developed a highly successful two-part introductory program that addresses all the major needs of newcomers to Yoga.
The program is divided into a series of progressive classes, each of which provides a balanced yoga session that leaves students feeling relaxed and full of energy.
Designed for complete beginners, the program is also appropriate for those with some experience of yoga who are new to this style of practice.

Arjuna is a direct disciple of Swami Vishnudevananda and has been teaching family yoga programs in Sivananda centers and ashrams for many years. Arjuna’s approach is dynamic, personal, and inspiring, and includes many instructive stories from his time spent with his guru, Swami Vishnudevananda.
Besides teaching yoga asana classes and philosophy courses, Arjuna also enjoys helping people find pleasure in adopting a plant based diet throught teaching cooking workshops. He has been a vegetarian cook for over 25 years, running the Silver Ball Cafe Vegetarian Restaurant in Ottawa, Canada. In his warm and friendly hands on workshops, he will pass on all of his knowledge of simple vegetarian cooking, making it fun and easy.
