Mondays, Wednesdays 7:15 –8:45 pm
Tuition : $85.00

For people of all ages who are new to yoga or complete beginners, and want to start a regular practice, this course is the perfect way to ease into yoga. You will learn about the health benefits of yoga asana (postures) and pranayama (breathing exercises) and the positive effect on body, mind and emotions.

Held in small groups for more individual attention, we will slowly and systematically teach the basics of Yoga, emphasizing the 5 points of perfect health: proper exercise, proper breathing, proper relaxation, proper diet, meditation and positive thinking. Building a foundation for a solid practice, the added benefit is a short meditation at the end of each session.

With over 40 years experience in teaching yoga to beginners, the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center has developed a highly successful two-part introductory program that addresses all the major needs of newcomers to Yoga.

The program is divided into a series of progressive classes, each of which provides a balanced yoga session that leaves students feeling relaxed and full of energy.

Designed for complete beginners, the program is also appropriate for those with some experience of yoga who are new to this style of practice.

The courses are held in small groups to ensure individual attention; please reserve early to secure a place. The course includes the following:

  • Introduction to Yoga philosophy
  • Basic breathing exercises
  • Guided relaxation techniques
  • Stretching exercises
  • Sun salutation
  • Introduction to the basic sequence of 12 asanas

Courses meet at 1207 W. Bryn Mawr Avenue. Space is limited. Please reserve early.
